Specifying turbocharging for a new vessel has traditionally meant choosing from a wide range of turbocharger sizes, each with its own parts, tooling and service needs. Across a fleet, that variety adds up to more spare parts to stock, more variants to manage and more complexity both for everyday maintenance and scheduled service.
The right match for every engine
The ACCX300-L covers two-stroke engines from roughly 5 MW to around 25 MW from a single platform. Its turbine delivers high efficiency across a wider power band and the compressor a pressure ratio above 5.0. Interchangeable compressor stages fit within the same casing, so the turbocharger can be matched closely to the engine without a new design. The whole range is built from just two frame sizes, the ACCX365-L and ACCX370-L.
Simpler inventory and logistics
Because components are shared across the platform, operators have fewer part numbers to stock and spare parts are more readily available. A mixed fleet can draw on one common inventory and one cartridge pool. For engine builders, standardized footprints and connections simplify installation.
High power without the heavy lifting
For higher-power engines, the TWIN concept pairs turbochargers in parallel: two ACCX365-L units, two ACCX370-L units, or one of each. A single, much larger turbocharger would mean a heavier cartridge, harder transport and a longer service job. With TWIN, every cartridge on board weighs no more than 1000 kg, so even the most powerful engines keep the option of a 12-hour exchange during a port stay. Lifting requirements are lower, and there is no need to stock parts for different turbocharger families on the same vessel.
A '2x TWIN' arrangement of four units is proposed for the largest engines. Flexible layouts, such as mounting smaller and lighter turbochargers, give engine builders more freedom with complex engine configurations.
Ready to adapt
Common interfaces also make future changes easier. If a vessel's operating profile or fuel changes, components such as the compressor stage can be rematched within the existing casing, avoiding the cost and disruption of replacing the turbocharger. Whatever the ship and operation demands, the platform’s unique modularity and configurability means the ACCX300-L fits the bill.
