In 2023, Accelleron’s True North Marine (TNM) prepared the first Sea Cargo Charter submission on behalf of a major global charterer. TNM was already providing routing guidance and optimization to the fleet, and its unique combination of maritime expertise and end-to-end charter capabilities enabled a seamless expansion into verified emissions reporting. Building on this foundation, TNM is now a dedicated provider of services for charterers seeking the technical precision, verified data, and reporting confidence required by the Sea Cargo Charter.
Accelleron’s TNM President Brian Hatter said, “While many of the Sea Cargo Charter signatories opt for non-specialist accountants and management consultants, our value proposition is clear. We are maritime, data, and engineering experts, so the data we collect is precise, we understand it, and we can process, verify, and report it more efficiently and accurately for charter purposes. Where we are already delivering voyage optimization, we can make this a seamless, hassle-free process for our customers.”
Cost-effective reporting
The Sea Cargo Charter is a global, industry-led framework that enables charterers to measure and publicly disclose the climate alignment of their shipping activities against IMO decarbonization targets. By holding charterers accountable for emissions-related decisions, something current IMO and EU regulations do not do, it fills a critical gap in the regulatory landscape. Since its inception, it has driven increased transparency, standardization, and climate-focused decision-making across the commercial shipping sector.

The Sea Cargo Charter is one of the most widely supported voluntary reporting initiatives in the maritime industry, with 34 signatories to date including leading charterers and, for the first time last year, ship operators. The initiative is also increasing demand for high-quality emissions data to inform chartering decisions and support compliance with emerging regulations such as the EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime.
Accelleron’s TNM voyage optimization solution automates the collection of this data, with specific modules to streamline the compilation of reports. Experts on Accelleron’s dedicated emissions desk then verify and check the data before delivering the final report. Alongside the Sea Cargo Charter, Accelleron supports customers in reporting for the EU Emissions Trading System, FuelEU Maritime, and the IMO Data Collection System, among others.
Accelleron’s TNM Vice President of Business Development Captain Gurjeet Warya said, “Our combination of data, analytics, and human expertise keeps us ahead of annual reporting requirements, with voyage-by-voyage data collection and analysis replacing last-minute submissions. This continuous process ensures Accelleron and its clients are well prepared for each reporting cycle. Our digital vessel optimization, fleet benchmarking, emissions dashboards, and CII forecasts provide actionable insights to support compliance, efficiency, and transparency.”
Improved transparency
Accelleron’s TNM is the only voyage optimization provider listed as a third-party report submitter in Sea Cargo Charter’s 2025 annual report. The report notes that in 2024, this enabled one major charterer to improve its monitoring of fuel emissions for chartered vessels, obtaining information for significantly more voyages in 2024 than in 2023. This increased transparency enables customers to gain a much clearer view of their maritime freight emissions.
In 2024, Accelleron acquired TNM to provide shipowners and operators with a robust digital offering that brings together data from the bridge and the engine room. By combining weather routing and voyage optimization with engine and turbocharger analytics, hull and propeller monitoring, fleet benchmarking, emissions dashboards, and CII forecasting, Accelleron enables customers to make smarter, data-driven decisions across every voyage in their fleets, reducing fuel consumption, cutting emissions, and staying ahead of decarbonization and compliance requirements.
